Shepherds Reign | Wellington
Tribal. Supremely talented. Fiercely noble. Richly proud.
Renowned for their powerful and electrifying performances, 2024 Taite Music Prize nominees Shepherds Reign are thrilled to announce their upcoming New Zealand tour. The dynamic band will bring their unique blend of heavy metal and Polynesian rhythms to audiences this August. Playing Christchurch’s A Rolling Stone on Thursday 8 August, followed by San Fran in Wellington on Friday 9 August before wrapping up with a show at Auckland’s Tuning Fork on Saturday 10 August.
Hailing from South Auckland, New Zealand, Shepherds Reign is a band that takes their music and mission seriously. Comprised of Filiva’a James (vocals and keytar), Gideon Voon (guitar), Oliver Leupolu (guitar/production), Shaymen Rameka (drums), and Joseph Oti-George (bass), Shepherds Reign perform predominantly in Samoan and were the first ever metal band to tour Samoa after the release of their second album Ala Mai last year.
Their music is a powerful voice that shares every aspect of their lives and cultures with the world. Whether unleashing the raw, guttural tribal roar of "Aiga" or the biker-rough riffery of "Ua Masa’a," Shepherds Reign brings a special passion and power to every single note. Having recently supported Disturbed at Auckland’s Spark Arena, the band hit the stage with fire dancers, Polynesian dancers, a four piece of percussion players and received rave reviews of their performance with Ambient Light Blog declaring “The 5 piece South Auckland Polynesian metal band is unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed in the music realm. A band united in their passion, writing and performing hard hitting music that expresses their cultural roots and their life experiences”
