About:
You may’ve heard the murmurings about this young rapper from New Zealand. He’s the whizz kid from Wellington who, in the space of five hard-working years, has gone from secretly recording rhymes in his bedroom to sharing stages with some of the biggest names in the game including Chance The Rapper, Mac Miller, Action Bronson, Jurassic 5, Vince Staples, Earl Sweatshirt and many more.
He is Name UL, And, as New Zealand’s discerning hip-hop community will tell you, he’s one of our brightest emerging stars. His Debut Album 'Choice(s)' in 2016 sent Name UL to the top of the NZ Hip Hop charts with the album Debuting at no.1 on the Itunes Charts New Zealand after a strong wave of support emerged from the underground. The lead single from Choice(s); "Nice Guys Finish Thirst" gained the young rapper alot of attention globally with a music video shot in LA assisting a mammoth 1,000,000 streams and counting on Spotify. With his 2018 EP 'DONT4GETME' being featured on MONTREALITY, Beats1 Radio and many more the young Kiwi is already making waves internationally.
Having relocated to London in 2017, Name UL has developed a maturity and wider perspective which is prevalent in his release, 4 Days. One of UL's largest milestones to date is featuring on American electronic artist Getter's album titled 'Visceral' which was released on Deadmau5's record label Mau5trap in September of 2018. These releases as well as the DIY nature of UL's pursuit has had a big impact on his momentum in 2019 with a mixtape being released in April titled 'Tape 1' and a brand new single release titled 'Don't Look Down' in June. The move has prompted a mass amount of collaboration and new relationships being formed in the northern hemisphere.
Now back in New Zealand and having just released the first single ‘RED EYE’ off his new EP which was heavily featured on some of Apple Music and Spotify’s biggest editorial playlists Name UL is ready to turn heads yet again with new tracks, visuals and shows.
