Kristin Hersh returns to Aotearoa New Zealand for four solo concerts in March 2025, following on from her sold out tour two years ago. Fans can look forward to material from Hersh’s mesmerising solo and Throwing Muses catalogue – a songbook stretching from the ‘80s through to today.

The solo tour – proudly presented by Plus1 with UnderTheRadar and 95bFM – includes Wellington, Christchurch and two Auckland dates, as follows:

  • Thursday 20 March – The Vic, Devonport
  • Friday 21 March – Tuning Fork, Auckland
  • Saturday 22 March – The Piano, Christchurch
  • Sunday 23 March  - Old St Pauls, Wellington (with Jon Muq)

Tickets are on sale at 9am  Friday 1 November from Plus1.co.nz

The inimitable Kristin Hersh is a musician's musician, a songwriter's songwriter, and an innovator's innovator.

Her first band, Throwing Muses, began recording and playing out when they were just 14 years old and they're still going. Their 2020 critically acclaimed Sun Racket album was hailed as "a perfect record”, and their next album Moonlight Concessions will be released in 2025.

Hersh’s recent solo album Clear Pond Road album is a cinematic road trip; a series of personal vignettes from a fiercely independent auteur, sitting plush with layers of all-consuming strings and mellotron. It’s a watershed moment in a career overflowing with creative firsts and inspirational thinking; an elegant piece of personal reportage, a home movie caught in time.

The crowd whoops and hollers as Hersh sings, “I think last night you were driving around me” like a mantra. We were treated to twenty songs but it still felt too short.– Marty Duda, 13th Floor review of Kristin Hersh, Auckland show, 2023.
