The Tuning Fork
Thursdays I'm In Love - Carb on Carb, Shannen Georgia Petersen, Wiri Donna
Join us for the third instalment of Thursdays I'm In Love, The Tuning Fork's monthly music discovery night, highlighting inspiring musicians from Aotearoa.
June's Thursdays I’m In Love lineup features
CARB ON CARB, SHANNEN GEORGIA PETERSEN & WIRI DONNA.
Born out of our love for kiwi music, Thursdays I'm In Love is The Tuning Fork's way of giving back to New Zealand's local music scene each month when we host three artists for you to discover and fall in love with.
Pick out one of your favourite craft beers and grab a burrito from our menu, and support the local artists performing. It’s time to take back Thursday, start your weekend at The Tuning Fork!
As if three excellent local acts aren’t enough, each month will feature a unique poster by a Kiwi graphic designer or artist.
June's poster is designed by GEORGIA MAY CLARK.
Thursdays I’m In Love sits alongside the comedy series Fork n Funny as The Tuning Fork’s monthly offerings.
The Tuning Fork will be paying careful attention to public health and safety advice on social gatherings and will be working to create a safe and comfortable environment for all attendees. Any restrictions on gathering sizes will be adhered to carefully.
Carb on Carb are Aotearoa's eminent emo duo. After taking 2020 slow and giving time to other projects, the band are back and amped to be touring again. 2021 will see the release of new music and a national tour over winter.
Shannen Georgia Petersen is best known as one half of "the pride of Palmerston North" fruit juice parade, whose recent single the more you don't know the less you know made #1 on the national SRN radio chart. Shannen has been playing shows here and there under her own name since 2016, some as intricate unravellings on the Synthstrom Deluge, others as plaintive acoustic guitar sets. This tour and the release of her first single Home Again 4 on May 28 however mark the coalescing of this project into something more - appearing on this tour with a backing band of familiar faces.
Wiri Donna is the project of Pōneke based creative Bianca Bailey making indie inspired dinky riff rock. Wiri Donna began 2020 with the release of her 2 track solo EP Sprouts. This was quickly transformed post lockdown launching into a rawkus live show with her band (Bianca Bailey - guitar/vocals, Harrison Scholes - bass, Ethan Roberts - guitar, James Macewan - Drums). They’ve since become a hot topic in Poneke’s thriving independent scene playing shows with the likes of Mild Orange, Soaked Oats & Jack Berry, including supporting Dartz on a national tour.
