Suitable for patrons aged 5 - 21 and their Caregivers
Acknowledge the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities for 2024 by joining us at Through the Roof inclusive Youth Arts festival 2024. A two-day youth arts festival with workshops, performances and a glitzy film premiere event.
Friday is all about learning new skills in the performing arts. With accessible music, dance, visual arts and circus workshops, a sensory journey and a special screening room that’ll show a selection of our youth films. Come join us for a magical day of learning for free. Bring yourself, bring your school or kura and be prepared for a day of fun filled performing arts. This event is open from 10am to 3pm.
Please note some workshops have limited capacity per session and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, however there are plenty of other workshops for you to explore whilst you wait for the next session.
Walk-Ups
Non-ticket holders are welcome to come to the venue on event day and if there is space available, you will be admitted at the discretion of the Ushers, even after ticket allocation is exhausted.

Waitakere Room 1: Accessible music making - Gareth from Synchronised music creation - Each session is 30 minutes. 10 people maximum per session. You may wish to bring headphones to this session if people are sound sensitive.

Waitakere Room 3: Film screening room and quiet space. Relax in a quiet zone throughout the day whilst watching the Through the Roof films from 2022 and 2023
1.30 PM - Spark digital sensory experience. Watch our latest sensory film with sensory props to explore throughout the movie. 45 minutes.
Hunua room 1: Dance workshop - 1 hour of dance fun with warm ups, technique and choreography. This has a maximum of 25 people in each group. Please wear suitable clothes and shoes to move in.

Hunua room 2: Social circus - this is a drop-in workshop that is open all day where you can come in and learn circus skills with the Circability team. Bring clothes that are suitable to move in.
Hunua Room 3: Sensory journey - this is a drop-in interactive sensory experience that is open all day. There will be some atmospheric lighting, bubbles, music and sound with things to touch, feel, see, hear and taste.
