URBANAUT BREWING PRESENT
MORNINGSIDE LIVE BLOCK PARTY
Come be a part of something unique, a suburban street takeover like no other in the heart of Auckland’s coolest little suburb Morningside.
Morningside Live Block Party is a brand-new boutique one day celebration of all things community in the Auckland central city suburb of Morningside this Summer! Hitting the hood on Sunday 5 February (Waitangi weekend), Morningside Live Block Party will take over McDonald Street in what promises to be a suburban extravaganza of local food, local brews, and stunning entertainment.
Headlined by Fat Freddy’s Drop the lineup features established and emerging artists, with the kaupapa of this event highlighting unique talent, community businesses and neighbourly vibes for a unique afternoon and evening of entertainment. The main stage will be situated outside Kind Café and will feature a ‘Friends of Freddy’s lineup curated by the band including queen of Aotearoa’s roots and dancehall scene Rubi Du, Team Dynamite’s Lucky Lance with Christoph El Treuento, 2022 APRA Maioha Award finalist AJA, and Reiki Ruawai from Masaya Band. Between acts fans will be treated to tunes from MC Slaves famous Logg Cabin.
There’s a swag of nooks and crannies throughout the venue to explore including The MC Slave curated ‘Big Fan Hot Box’ inside Joel Little’s Big Fan Studio. This will be a non-stop party space cranking all night featuring DJ’s Benny Salvador, Andy Heartthrob, award winning producer and soul vocalist duo Haz & Miloux, AJ Honeysuckle and DJ Dubhead.
Now we can reveal a brand new stage just added ‘The Spinoff Carpet Club’. Featuring snappy, guest-star-sprinkled live versions of The Spinoff podcasts Gone by Lunchtime and The Real Pod, live comedy from Chris Parker, Janaye Henry, Guy Montgomery and Courtney Dawson, plus Toby and Toby: Toby Manhire interviewing and Toby Morris live-drawing some very special guests. The venue: down a mysterious ramp and into the bowels of the earth, aka the underground carpark of the Carpet Court.
The jewel of McDonald Street aka ‘The Glasshouse’ will be transformed into a blissful chill out zone, Morningside Tavern will be doing what they do best, hosting and serving, and a plethora of food options will be on site including a bespoke ‘Phat Freddy’s Philly Cheesesteak’.
Presented by Urbanaut Brewing, a local brewery brewing tasty craft beers and ciders, the food and beverage line-up is as integral to the event as the main attractions! Morningside is a hub for great food and as a suburb, has a goal of becoming the brewing capital of Aotearoa. Morningcider, Yeastie Boys, Urbanaut are all local breweries that will be serving up delicious cold brews on the day, alongside Major Major who are jumping in to be part of the Morningside fun.
Tickets to Morningside Live Block Party are extremely limited. After all there’s only so many people you can get on a small suburban street. Once they’re sold out, they’re sold out, so best not dilly dally. Tickets go on sale midday Wednesday 26 October from Moshtix.
